| I'd like to look at the validity of SPM99 on normalising oblique axial
| images (3-4 mm total coverage) NOT covering the whole brain. We did a few
| case and they seems tilting in different direction. Do you have any
| similiar experience?

| I'm looking at:

| Spatial Normalisation: A New Approach
| Friston KJ (1995)
|
| and certainly would need your advice in this matter.
This is tricky, so I suspect you may encounter a few problems.
I would suggest giving some very good initial starting estimates
for the spatial normalisation, and see what happens. Because you
have a very limited FOV, the spatial normalisation should not try
to do any nonlinear warping, so will be limited to just a 12
parameter affine transformation. The following paper may be useful:
Ashburner J, Neelin P, Collins DL, Evans AC & Friston KJ (1997):
"Incorporating prior knowledge into image registration."
NeuroImage. 6(4):344-352
