The adjusted values are defined as the original data minus some fitted
effects, where you can choose which effects (of no interest) should be
subtracted from the original data. I don't know too much about SPM96,
but I remember that adjusted data was simply the original data minus the
fitted effects of no interest. In SPM99, you can do exactly the same,
e.g. the easiest way to remove the effects due to session effects is to
use the initially generated F-contrast ('effects of interest') and plot
the adjusted responses.
