Postdoctoral Research Position
*********************************************
An NERC funded Postdoctoral Research Assistantship is available for two
years and two months under the COSMAS Programme to work with Professor JM
Brown, beginning as soon as possible. The objective of the project is to
make a spectroscopic detection of the complexes of O_2 with water
and with itself (the oxygen dimer) in the mid-IR and visible regions of
the spectrum. The results are to be used to investigate anomalies in the
absorption coefficient of the earth's atmosphere at these wavelengths to
aid the modelling of photochemical processes. Experience in familiarity
with high resolution spectroscopy and spectral analysis would be
advantageous. The appointment would be made at grade RA1A salary
16286-24479 pounds depending on experience.
Applicants should send a CV with the names of two referees to Professor JM
Brown, Physical and Theoretical Chemistry Laboratory, South Parks Road,
Oxford, OX1 3QZ, fax 01865-275410, to arrive by 30 September 2000. For
