Dear collegues,
has somebody measured mass spectra of copolymers of glucose
and acrylic acid? We have tried APCI, ESI and MALDI in negative-
ion and also positive-ion mode without success. We have used
neutral, basic or acidic pH of the sample solution. These polymers
are hydrophile and can be dissolved in water or 50% aqueous
methanol or acetonitril. The polymer was desalted before the
measurement. The polymer mass distribution is expected bellow
2000. It was confirmed by other methods that the polymer should
be properly synthetised, but we have no idea, why we cannot
measure reasonable mass spectra. Initially, I expected problem
with high amount of salts, but now the sample was desalted.
I am looking forward to any advices. If somebody thinks that he/she
can solve the problem and measure the spectrum using any
ionization technique, I can send the samples. The cooperation
should result in a publication.
Regards,
