ANNOUNCING AND ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2000 GORDON CONFERENCE ON
"VIBRATIONAL SPECTROSCOPY AND MOLECULAR DYNAMICS"
August 6-11, 2000
Salve Regina University
Newport, Rhode Island
Dear Fellow OSA & CLEO/ILS Members,
This year's "Vibrational Spectroscopy and Molecular Dynamics" Gordon
Conference will be held at Salve Regina University in Newport, RI on August
6-11th. Since this is one of the prime Gordon Conference sites, we
anticipate having wonderful weather and a stimulating environment for
invigorating scientific discussion! Yacht sailing Wednesday afternoon is
also planned.
There are also several new sessions that we feel will add new depth to the
conference program and offer new venues for collaboration and scientific
overlap. Examples include Advanced FTIR Applications, Terahertz
Spectroscopy, Sum-Frequency Spectroscopy at Solid and Liquid Interfaces and
Vibrational Ring-Down Spectroscopy.
Rather than bogging down your e-mail with the entire conference program, we
encourage you to visit our GRC website at
http://www.grc.uri.edu/programs/2000/vibrat.htm for an up-to-date list of
sessions and speakers and on-line instructions for applying to the meeting.
We're sure you will be enticed by what you see! Please contact Ted Heilweil
at the addresses below if you need any further information about the program
or making arrangements for attending the meeting.
Please note that anyone wishing to present one or more posters is encouraged
to do so at two formal poster sessions. There will also be a "Quickies"
session on Tuesday evening for those of you wishing to present a short
five-minute talk on your latest results. Please contact Pete Kelly to
secure spots on these lists.
If for any reason you cannot make it to the meeting, we still strongly
encourage you to either send your students or forward this announcement and
the above GRC website URL to any potentially interested colleagues. The
meeting will definitely profit from having newcomers and younger scientists
wishing to get exposure to late breaking advances and world-renowned experts
in our growing field.
Hoping to see you in Newport and our best wishes for the summer!
