The Control of Gaseous Emissions using Plasma Technology
Applications are invited from Ph.D. graduates in chemistry, physics or engineering for a postdoctoral research associateship to work on a project funded by the EPSRC Waste and Pollution Management Programme investigating the use of plasma technology to control gaseous emissions from landfill sites. Non-thermal, atmospheric pressure plasma methods have previously been shown to be effective for the removal of trace species in waste gas streams and the destruction efficiency of the five key odourous gases most commonly emitted from landfill sites will be investigated in a variety of configurations. The end-products of the plasma processing will be detected in real time using FTIR spectroscopy and other analytical methods. Applicants should have experience of or a strong interest in gas-phase chemistry, plasma processing or the development of environmental technologies
The post will be for one year at an annual salary of approximately £18,185, according to age and experience and will be available from 1st May 2000. Further details can be obtained from Dr. J.C. Whitehead ([log in to unmask]).
