Dear All
LAUNCH OF WWW.SPACESYNTAX.NET <http://www.SPACESYNTAX.NET>
Those of you who attended the First International Symposium at UCL in 1997
may remember the proposal then to establish "www.spacesyntax.net"
<http://www.spacesyntax.net>. The aim of this was to provide a forum for
sharing knowledge and facilitating communications between researchers using
space syntax. Unfortunately the idea didn't materialise, although the Space
Syntax Mailbase did and has - in fits and starts - served as a substitute.
The Space Syntax Laboratory at UCL has revived the idea of a spacesyntax.net
site to better serve the needs of the growing space syntax community. Our
aim is for spacesyntax.net to complement real-time debate on the Mailbase
and to provide a shared, online resource to fill the gaps between Symposia.
To this effect we have set up:
http://www.spacesyntax.net <http://www.spacesyntax.net>
This page provides a map of the world that displays a set of dots showing
the geographic locations of indvidual researchers and research groups. We
will provide a link from each dot to a summary research page, and from there
to the corresponding research website or email link.
There is a "Join Here" button at spacesyntax.net allowing you to join and
asking you to provide information on you and your research. You can also
join the Space Syntax Mailbase from here.
If you request a hotlink from your summary research page to your own webpage
then you will also be asked to provide details which will allow us to set up
and maintain a link to that website. You will also be asked to provide a
hotlink to the spacesyntax.net site from your own site.
Perhaps the best news is that, unlike the 1997 proposal, there is no charge
for membership of spacesyntax.net. This is thanks to support from Space
Syntax Limited in London.
I invite all of you to join today. In doing so I hope that you can help make
the global network of space syntax research richer still.
Please also send me your comments on the site (and also on the revamped
www.spacesyntax.com <http://www.spacesyntax.com> and
www.spacesyntaxlaboratory.org <http://www.spacesyntaxlaboratory.org> sites).
Best wishes for a happy festive season to you all.
Tim
