If ever you get stuck, each mail sent out from simsoc
contains a header line (X-Unsub:) with the instructions
send text 'leave simsoc' to [log in to unmask]
(You may need to "display the full header" to see it.)
I've not tried this, but it seems like a standard
automailer type of instruction. Essentially, put the
words "leave simsoc" in the content of the message and
it should all happen automagically. Some mailer programs
benefit from having the word "end" on the next line
(saves the program trying to interpret your address
block as instructions!).
I'd guess that it is important to send the message from
the mail account that you are subscribed under since
the program takes your email address to be the one which
should be unsubscribed. In most cases this would most
likely be the address on which you receive the mail from
simsoc.
Hope that helps,
Charlesw
(Who is mystified that people want to unsubscribe just when
things are getting most interesting! :-)
