Professional Development Workshops
'Helping Science Postgraduates to Develop Teaching Skills'
Dr Liz Elvidge
Heriot Watt University
Date: Friday, May 5th 2000
Time: 10.00 - 16.00
Venue: Radcliffe House, University of Warwick
How will you prepare your new postgraduate students or GTA's
before letting them loose on undergraduates next year? How much
training will they have received before demonstrating in the lab,
helping with fieldwork or running tutorial groups? If the answer to
either of these questions is "not much" then this workshop is for you.
The workshop provides an introduction to the "Teaching Skills for
Postgraduate Students" programme which has been developed under the
Fund for the Development of Teaching and Learning. It provides a
student-centred approach to the most important aspects of teaching and
learning and is flexible enough to be adapted to different
institutions' needs.
This workshop is suitable for academic staff from science disciplines
and those involved in training in teaching and learning.
There is no registration fee for this workshop. Lunch and refreshments
will be provided. To register for this workshop reply to this message
or send your details to Jean Quantrill, LTSN Physical Sciences, Dept
of Chemistry, University of Hull, HU6 7RX
Please register me for the workshop at Radcliffe House, Warwick on May 5th 2000.
