A new national Centre to support higher education staff in Mathematics,
Statistics and OR has been established as part of the UK Learning and
Teaching Support Network. The Centre is now able to offer the following
posts for three years in the first instance, with every likelihood of
extension to five years. Applicants for posts 1-3 will require excellent
IT, Web and administrative skills.
1. A Statistics and OR Education Officer (Ref S0321; £14,904-24,843), to
carry out research and development into the optimal balance between IT
and other methods of learning and teaching Statistics and OR. At least
two years experience of teaching on degree level courses in statistics
or mathematics is required for this post, which is based in Nottingham.

2. A Research Fellow in Information Technology (Statistics and OR)
(£22,579- 30,065), to research the role of IT in learning and teaching
Statistics and OR, disseminate the results via workshops and
publications and maintain and develop Web resources. Significant
expertise in statistical computing and an interest in teaching are
essential for this post, which is based in Glasgow. A cv and brief

Birmingham. A graduate with a mathematical background is required, with
excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills.

4. A Research Fellow (Mathematics) (Ref S335393/00; £16,286-22,579) will
be aware of recent developments in the pedagogy of Mathematics and will
investigate how these affect current academic practice. A background in
mathematics and mathematical education is required for this post, which
is jointly funded by the School of Mathematics and Statistics at
Birmingham. The Research Fellow will be expected to make innovative
contributions to the teaching and learning activities of the School.
