I am currently looking for someone to assist with the BA Festival of science
press operation. I need an individual as soon as possible to work from the
BA offices in London to assist with collating the press papers for the
Festival, setting up press conferences, assisting with media registration
and queries. The individual will work in the press centre set up during the
Festival at Imperial College from 6 - 12 September, so some weekend work may
be needed during this particularly busy time. This is a great opportunity
for someone to gain experience of press work in a scientific context. We
are really looking for someone who has computer skills - the BA press papers
are mainly submitted via an internet route with an automatically generated
database, word and access would be very useful, good telephone skills and
some administrative experience. Previous press experience is not essential
but would be an advantage what is really key is a calm, mature and organised
approach. It may help to know that previous assistants have come back for
further years work and have stated how enjoyable, if busy it is! Sadly the
assistant from the last two years is in Equador even though she was keen to
work with us again Equador was a bit of a better prospect! Many thanks for
any suggestions that you may have.
