Hi Everyone,
Just a query about sponges and particle size in reference
to secondary treated sewage (and sewage in general).
Basically I would like to know if sponges are selective in
not only the size but also the substance they are filtering
from the water column. My research involves looking at sponges
impacted by sewage and I would like to know if sponges consume
the sewage and feed on the sewage. Additionally, are different
sponge species a consideration here, that is, are some sponge
species more robust or selective in their filtering capacity.
I would appreciate any thoughts or references on this topic.
Many thanks in advance
Cheers
