Not at all. Pyotr Kropotkin, IMHO the greatest anarchist of them all, was a
competent scientist. While exploring the eskers of Finland he was offered
the secretaryship of the Russian Geographical Society. He then made his
decision to abandon science to occupy his life in social protest as some
other capable Russians with a conscience did. From the anarchists I know it
appears to me that a predeliction to an anarchic philosophy correlates with
the kind of lateral thinking that a good poet has to have to create anarch
de triomphe.
