There was a great writeup on DErek WAlcott I have just read and
I must say that only 'Midsummer' of his books has struck me
as having quality. The new Tiepolo doesn't interest me.
I got hold of the Heineman book of his early work but there
was nothing there. 'Arkansas Testament' was a waste of time
and 'Omeros' only saved by the Irish. I think Kamau Brathwaite
much the bigger and more influential figure in Caribbean poetry.
I forgot to say that WAlcott's essays are an enjoyable read.
