Yes, I think I've experienced something similar with respect to an
imaginative act, in a way ... well, not to speak as 'myself', but giving
voice to something that is both me and also not-me ....
I am the wild hunter...
I'm not sure that gender is always the primary defining characteristic of
self or of language. But, when it is, then gender specific identity will of
necessity be an issue.
Perhaps we need to distinguish more clearly between the occasions when it is
relevant and those when it isn't.
