Yes, perhaps you're right . . although not only that. Mark made
the comment ragarding a writer's stance to poetic content . . . .
the levels of objectivity, irony, humour, etc which combat the
preciousness assigned to personal psychic content -- those
'things' which belong to us. If having a cold eye is equivalent
to gentility, then I guess I'm in favour of it :-) As long as cold
eyes produce more than cold poems, of course.
