Douglas: What I thought your "Drogheda man" was saying is that in the
general conditions of savagery in war Cromwell was about average, which is
certainly true. The Thirty Years' War, which ended in 1648, depopulated
large parts of Europe. If he's claiming that the account, which appears in
histories written by all sides, is false, I need more of a citation. People
claim all kinds of things.
