Yes, very much so -- this is a weak area of mine, which is why
I'm having trouble in sorting out the Scots issue . . . I'm lacking
the historical context at the moment, only going by what I know
of the present (or at least my own perception of the present).

It sounded like it didn't it? :-) No, I'm aware that it's more than
a subset, and that it has had more of a parallel history as
opposed to a bit-part, but I'm extremely foggy as to the details
at the moment. Think I'd better educate myself on the matter
before I expend any more waffle on the subject!
