This is what I did when it happened to me.
Went to the server web page at http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk
Selected the poetryetc list
Selected the link that offered to let me change my options
Decided that I couldn't change my options unless I had a password
Selected the link that offered to let me set a password
Set a password
Waited until I received an email saying that my password had been
accepted
Went to the page specified in the email to confirm my password
Went to the poetryetc list page
Selected the link that offered to let me change my options if I had a
password
Entered my password
Selected the mailing list options I wanted (in my case: my messages sent
to me, and no other confirmation that my messages had been posted)
Regards,
