The following may be helpful altho they are not up to the minute or
available on DVD or anything like that.
1. My book New Relations [Seren 1996] has a section on Duffy which will also
direct your student to some other hard to find essays.
2. Corcoran's English Poetry since 1940 [Longman 1993] has a chapter on
Plath.
3. Alan Robinson's Instabilities in Contemporary British Poetry [Macmillan
1988] has a useful section on Duffy - one of the first proper accounts of
her work, I think.
4. Edward Larrisy: Reading Twentieth Century Poetry: The Language of Gender
ad Objects [Blackwell 1990] has a whole chapter on Plath.
5. Ian Gregson's Contemporary Poetry and Postmodernism [Macmillan 1996] has
useful discussion of Duffy.
6. Contemporary British Poetry: Essays in Theory and Criticism [SUNY Press,
1996] edited by James Acheson and Romana Huk has discussions of Plath and
Duffy.
7. Useful interview with Duffy in Bete Noire 6 [Winter 1988]
8. Jan Montefiore's Feminism and Poetry [Pandora 1984] is a useful general
discussion of poetry by women and of issues current for the Plath, Fanthorpe
and Duffy generations.
There is also a new book of essays on contemporary women's poetry which
Deryn Rees-Jones is co-editing which is forthcoming from Macmillan but I
have forgotten the name of it. Also when Deryn's Consorting With Angels
critical book ever appears from Bloodaxe it will doubtless have something to
say on the subject.
That should be enough to be going on with. In the words of BT, you have not
been charged for this service.
Cheers
David
