John Bennett asked me to pass this on as being of interest to anyone in
Sydney next weekend. As it happens, I will part of a panel on Sunday morning
10am with Martin Langford and Brook Emery talking about editing poetry.
There will be other similar panels and workshops and, of course, readings in
a number of languages, including Indigenous input. BTW, Carnivale is
Sydney's annual multicultural arts festival, as opposed to the other
multicultural events of the last couple of weeks.

World Congress of Poets
ŒValuing Our World Poetic Heritage¹
Weekend 7-8 October 2000
Australian poets from many different countries of origin will take part in
a very multicultural weekend, during Carnivale.
Professor Elizabeth Webby of the University of Sydney will launch the World
Congress of Poets poetry weekend and anthology at 10.00am on 7th October at
the NSW Writers' Centre, Rozelle, Sydney. All are welcome to the launch -
10.00am-11.am Saturday 7th October. The weekend is a preliminary to the
international congress to be held in Sydney in October 2001.
Launch of ŒMany voices¹ anthology on Saturday morning at 10.00 -11.00. Free
readings by refugee poets on Saturday afternoon. Following that is Music of
the Andes. And following that is a reception with Korean food at 6.00
followed by readings by Jeung Ho-seung (who has sold 800,000 copies of his
poems in Korea!) (translations will be projected etc.)
There are workshops, discussions, readings and concerts. Plus much more!
People can pay at the door for the many sessions $25 per day (concession for
students,
pensioners and unemployed $20).
