Hi, I'm new to poetryetc and agree with Jon. Poetry has been stuck in
academia for too long. But, the internet is a marvellous tool and a great
means of self-promotion vis-a-vis self publishing. Struggling poets like
myself can set up a web site. Mine is at
http://www.geocities.com/helen_hagemann. I show my friends, write about my
friends, do performance poetry in the community and generally have fun!
Poetry need not only be in book form. Let's face it they don't sell anyway.
The task for poets in the new millenium is to flood the world with as much
poetry and poetics as possible and become as copious as porno sites.
> Poetry in the English speaking world is now part of the academic
>humanities, and the publication of poems, like the publications of
>academic humanists, do not have as their primary purpose the
>communication of knowledge: they instead primarily serve a
>credentialling function.
