Yes, I agree with SK the incidence of death by 'the loaded gun' has been
reduced dramatically in Oz (a move by right wing politics which was good!).
My husband had a 22 rifle and had to hand it over. He had paid about $300
AUD back in the 60s for it and received $200 on the handover, which he
grumbled about. I actually felt relieved when the damn thing was gone. I
would have hated him using it in a break-in say, although the magazine was
removed mostly. Nowadays, we just go for high security in our homes with no
fear of getting a bullet in the head.
A much better way to live. I believe Americans think that the gun is the
innocent party, but it does have a trigger mechanism used by a human finger.
Just some thoughts on the matter.
