hi, people
i should have regular email access as of this week. i return to cambridge
early sept. i haven't been able to follow the list closely over the last
couple of weeks but have received a strong complaint b-c from a new list
member re a misunderstanding over "non-english" surnames and a
misunderstanding over identity. i can
vouch for ip and feel she has good reason to be concerned that she is
being dismissed unfairly (as a result of earlier list happenings - before
she became a list member).
could people please remember that this is an international list and that
it encourages different cultural viewpoints and, for that matter,
languages. the translation project was a step in this direction. by way of
a new project, i welcome people to post original poems in languages other
than english (with a translation if one is available).
it's also worth new members noting that irony often goes into overdrive on
poetryetc and discussion deviates from original thread lines - this is
interesting and, in a sense, is what the list is all about. it generates
its own languages and identities.
best,
jk
