Matt estimated 50-60 emails a day to the list.
Someone [sorry I've forgotten who] looked at the list and noted that 1/3 are
female and 2/3 are male.
Here are some stats on recent postings...
Friday -- 100 emails, 21% from females [I estimated Ally=f and Alex Davis=m]
Saturday -- 101 emails, 24% from females
Sunday -- 67 emails, 30% from females
Andrew Jackson [21] and Mark Weiss [19] posted the most mails in the period.
Estimated error rate in the data - 5%.
The data is purely quantitative, no conclusions can be drawn about the
quality of contributions.
Conclusions -
1. The list is hot, people are under pressure. [So, recently posted advice
about 'sleeping on it' looks to be pertinent.]
2. It appears that the list is more male dominated than the enrolments
indicate. [Recently posted advice that the women should just 'jump in'
ignores evidence about the kinds of environments that women feel comfortable
jumping into.]

Gillian
