by 'baltic' i meant some autochthonous groups of non-indoeuropean speakers
living near the Baltic, (not a group of Baltic speakers ).
I thought the Prus were non-indoeuropean speakers?
to speculate again, the dominance of indo-euopean in europe may be due to
the rise of latin throught the roman empire more than anything else, if
another city more Etruscan than Rome had lead the way, perhaps this
non-indoeuropean language would have dominated... there were lots ...now
disapeared
