I agree with nearly everything Gillian said about Alison's review except for
this which seems to me to suggest everything that's wrong with a lot of
poetry reviewing. Ah well these poets didn't set out to be very good and by
the standard they set themselves they've succeeded magnificently in not
being very good so give these books the highest praise and prizes. Wow, you
know that new Ford that was recalled because of a faulty wheel well Ford
only intended it to have three!
People can either write or they can't. Alison has said so about two writers
who in her opinion can't. The Ozzie scene must be an even more depressing
place to be than the Brit one if this has been found at all remarkable.
