hi, will
my interest in sonic youth goes back to the 80s, though "Goo" was the first
album i actually possessed. i've been writing a book on their influence/s
re a poetics over the last year or so. have had some interesting discussion
with thurston m via email. wrote a few poems as a result of that. it's a
pretty 'full-on' interest! i rate their goodbye 20th century double album
as the best thing out in the last decade - yoko ono's 'voice for soprano'
(track 5) might well be a work of 'genius'! on this double set, sonic youth
play compositions by: cage, cardew, kosugi, maciunas, oliveros, ono, reich,
slonimsky, tenney, and wolff.
best,
jk
