Stephen Vincent's response to the quote from Wittgenstein was fascinating,
as usual. I'm not sure the same things has happened to the suburbs up here
in Edmonton & environs, but I do think there has been a general loss of
such signage over the past decade or so. I am reminded of the opening shots
of SONS OF CAPTAIN POETRY, Michael Ondaatje's early film about bpNichol, in
which the camera follows bp through a landscape of letters, the signs of
the town flickering an alphabet of change to and around him. All these
'signs' do connect it seems.
And Stephen's final question, well it really is the point, isnt it?
