I'm bit late joining this thread
but would like to add my twopennorth.
I like to see biographical notes in magazines.
For me they help to show the diveresity or otherwise of the contributors
I forget which magazine it was that first said it prefered anecdotal notes
to lists of previous publications, but as an editor I felt it the best
stance to take
and requested similarly from my contributors.
The risk of some fabrications is balanced by the fact they make
interesting reading in themselves.
I used to try and publish a few photographs but they don't reproduce
too well in print and I bowed to criticism and dropped them,
but for web-based ezines it is a different matter.
>From the other side of the fence
I can recall one instance where a magazine
listed me as a contributor
but when I looked at the biographical notes
the notes were mine
but the attached name was that of Gerald Locklin
and it was Locklin's poem
which was published in the mag not mine!
I think biographical notes are great
as long as no-one takes them too seriously!
