Grantham has a shopping centre named after Isaac Newton, and Charles
Darwin's the Mall Man in Shrewsbury.
Or both did circa 1990.
I suspect in both cases a blind spot in the civic imagination's linguistic
registers.
Not the sort of event one associates with poets.
Being from the English Midlands my images of canals are not, um, exactly of
the glamorous.
