I think the point is Melinda we are in total accord with you on this one.
However what is being said in good humour is not a celebration of athlete
watching (male or female) but instead what goes on in the name of sports
podiatry. I am sure you have followed the correspondence from Hylton
relating to the experiences in Atlanta. Now I for one would be delighted if
all sports podiatrists had your integrity. However some clearly do not.
On a historical note athletes who competed in the ancient games did so
naked. Contemporary athlete's attire leaves little to the imagination and
some may argue through no attempt to enhance performance. Therefore one is
left to conclude exhibitionism and voyeurism are very much part of today's
elite sport.
Perhaps this a sad reflection of the human condition, but, as always
what say you?

In 1928 Charles C Pyle (known to his friends as Cash and Carry Pyle) was a
professional promoter in the US and pioneer of modern marketing. He
engaged celebrity endorsements, media events and product tie-ins to support
his endurance events. The Great North American Foot Race involved a
transcontinental marathon but sadly the event was a complete disaster.
Sportswriters referred to him henceforth as Corn and Callus Pyle, and they
renamed the great event the "Bunion Derby" due to its colossal, financial
problems and the number of blistered feet and fallen arches reported.
Despite this, the Bunion Derby continues to this day.
