Good morning All
I am the Podiatry Manager at Central Coast Health, Gosford, NSW.
I would be most appreciative if all Australian Public Sector Podiatrists would give me some feedback regarding a problem we are facing.
I recently recieved a directive from our Area Executive regarding Nursing Home and Hostel residents.
The directive was to discharge all Nursing Home and Hostel residents as they are considered to be living in institutions rather than a private home.
Also, that these institutions are self-funded therefore should be providing complete care including Podiatry.
It has been brought to our attention that those Hostel residents that are classified as 'low level care' are possibly entitled to our services as they pay a lesser percentage of their pensions to the governing bodies therefore not entitled to Podiatry other than externally.
I would really appreciate feedback from other Podiatry clinics around Australia that may have dealt with this problem, specifically, the 'level' of Care that requires external intervention.
Kind Regards
Helen Probine
