Dear All,
I am a final year student from Glasgow Caledonian University.
As part of an assignment I am looking into using a piece of equipment
similar to the Harris and Beath mat. I have been informed by my tutor in
Finland (I am on a 3 month placement) that a paper has been written by I
believe, a tutor who used to or may still work in Queen Margaret's
Edinburgh, on mimicking the dynamic foot while static.
I know that it seems a contradiction in terms. Is there anyway to stimulate
dynamic gait and the impression that one may expect on a Harris and Beath
mat without actually moving? To me in my infancy of learning about gait
analysis (and not being that good at it yet) the only way I can see is by
flexing the knees.
I know it may seem like a simple question but I am hoping that with the
experience that is available on the mail base someone may be able to advise.
Those who have taught or still teach may be able to convince a student
that all is not lost and that the illogical can sometimes be logical!
Thanks in advance
Doreen
