Netters and lurkers
Good to see the recent posting from Ralph Graham and timely too because I
have been preparing a program on communication and another on health care
models . Many mailbasers may be aware Ralph was technical advisor on the
film A Private Function (Handmade Films ). Superbly written by Alan Bennet
and directed by Malcolm Mowbray , the film star Michael Palin, Maggie Smith
and Denholm Elliot. A story concerning Gilbert Chilvers, chiropodist is set
in a Northern English town in Post War Britian. Apart from a hilarious plot
the film contains excellent reference to the role of a domicilliary
chiropodist. and , from bitter memory appears historically accurate, right
down to the real hide domicilliary case and solid scalpels. The scenes
involving Gilber in consultation transfix the students.
Although Bennet has written about chiropody before and since, who could
forget the Talking Heads series (BBC), the way this film reflects
chiropody (at that time) is a credit to Ralph Graham. Thanks Ralph for
making this weekend's homework all the more enjoyable.
I am sure you will enjoy working with the team in Vietnam.

With the recent report that watching amply proportioned ladies is
measurably beneficial to male health it seems no surprise to see high
heeled shoes back on the cat walk.
