Hi Folks,
After years of reading research with little validity, I want to try and
encourage folks to use measures that truly meet standards of validity and
reliability. Amazingly, most folks don't know them all and many ignore
aspects that really are key to have confidence in one's results or
conclusions.
Anyway, attached is a file (RTF) with a nice summary, a reference for the
full article, and a recent (1999) book that gives another perspective.

Subject: Batteries
It is healthy to see research on the increase, however I often read that
different inventories have been used such as the TDI or the PSPP and feel
that I would like to view them and possible include them in some of my work.
As a profession is there some way that we can put together a handbook of
these inventories, giving the battery, validity/reliability/factor analysis
details, examples of previous use.
Texts like this do exist in psychology, Physical Education.
If you out there think it is a good idea, I would be willing to put together
a group with the specific purpose of collecting details and drafting some
kind of publication.
Helpers required.
Pete.
