Dear Pieter J Louw
The Coalition for Education in the Outdoors (CEO) hosts a biennial research
symposium that draws a small but impressive group of established and
emerging scholars (from USA, Canada, and Japan) in the field. The most
recent was held in January 2000, and a proceedings will be available in the
fall. Copies of the 1998 and the 1994 proceedings are still available.
CEO is a network of associations, institutions, agencies, universities,
businesses etc that promote the broad aims of education in the outdoors.
Founded in 1987, CEO seeks not to duplicate the work of existing
organizations and associations, but to provide needed services and
communications that are beyond the purview or means of other groups. Short
of joining every OE organization and reading all thier publications, CEO's
quarterly information journal, Taproot, is regarded as the best means of
keeping abreast of what various groups are doing. In addition, CEO's
research symposiums focues on research in ways that other OE conferences
rarely can. In particular, the symposiums draw a group of scholars from
various fields who would not otherwise have gathered at any other event.
To learn more about CEO and how to affiliate with it, check the web page or
contact Charles Yaple at the address below. To reserve a copy of the 2000
proceedings, contact Yaple.
To order back copies of the proceedings, send $17 (US) funds if you live in
US or Canada or $20 (US) for all regions. These prices are per copy.
