Hello everyone -
As some of you may know, and many may not, last year Brathay began work
developing an Occasional Paper series focusing on research and
research-related issues and we are very pleased to announce the first
publication of this series! Pasted below is a promotional announcement
designed for our website that I thought might be of interest to you.
Please feel free to contact me to discuss the publication, or the series
generally.
Cheers,
Eva Pomeroy
*** ANNOUNCEMENT ***
Brathay is very pleased to announce the launch of our Occasional Paper
Series, a series committed to the dissemination of research and the
exploration of research-related issues in the field of experiential
learning.
The first of our series is Pete Allison's
Research from the Ground Up: Post-Expedition Adjustment
...an insightful and challenging look at the way in which we do research
in the field of outdoor experiential learning.
The first section of the book asks essential questions about research in
the field, such as: why do we undertake the research we do? What are
the basic beliefs and assumptions that underlie these choices? How does
the nature of the research affect the kind of findings we gain? These
questions are explored within the unique context of experiential
learning.
The second section then draws on research with young people on a British
Schools Exploration Society Expedition to Greenland, providing a
fascinating account of young people's experiences, both during and after
the expedition.
This work is an exceptional start to a promising series and can be
purchased from the following locations:
