University of Southampton:
Health Care Research Unit/School of Management
Researcher
We are seeking a researcher to work on a 1 year project to use an existing
simulation model to evaluate the future demand for renal replacement
therapy in England. It is funded by the Department of Health and it will
be jointly supervised by Dr P Roderick, Senior Lecturer in Public Health
Medicine and Dr Ruth Davies, Senior Lecturer in the Management
School. The project is one of a series of collaborative projects between
these 2 groups. Renal replacement therapy (dialysis and transplantation)
has expanded considerably in the UK, and now uses 1.5-2% of the NHS
budget. The aim is to build on previous simulation modelling work using
new data on patterns of care and survival available from UK Renal
Registry, UKTSSA and other data. There will be close liaison with a
group of senior nephrologists.
We are looking for a graduate with quantitative research skills, with some
experience of modelling. Health services research and medical statistics
experience would be an advantage.
Salary in the range £16,775-£25,213 per anuum, according to
qualifications and experience.
For further informal discussion contact Dr P Roderick on 02380 796532
