I would really appreciate some comments or feedback on the following:
The pt is an employee with a very large business organization that is
contracted by the Federal Government. He was hired 5 years ago. He stated
in both her application for the job and during his two interviews that she
had asthma and sometimes required hospitalization for her asthma for up to a
week. He was hired and for the first two years had only 8 absences.
However, in the 3rd year, he had a change in positions and in supervisors.
After about 6 months in this position, he was placed in a number of
situations whereby his asthma was severely aggravated and despite raising
her concerns with his supervisors, he was not permitted to transfer to a
different position. He developed pnuemonia and was admitted to hospital for
2 weeks and then went on a 6 month medical leave.
The employer is now saying that they are not prepared to have this employee
working for them giving his risk of having a life threatening attack. His
doctors have cleared him to return to work but not to the same position.
There are many other positions within this organization that are available
and which he is qualified for.
Any suggestions ?
