Thanks for all your help in the past - has been most helpful.
Do any of you have any suggestions as to an alternative (preferably
cheaper!) to the Manger Elk?
We, (the Manual Handling Committee at Shetland Health Board) have been
asked to put together a shopping list of equipment that should be
available for moving patients.
The Community nurses have a problem with some patients falling and not
being able to get back up unaided. These nurses are usually confronted
with this situation at night or weekends when on-call and working alone
in fairly large geographical areas. It would be reasonable to say that
GPs and Emergency Services are unwilling to get involved.
Any alternative means of scooping up a lying conscious patient, by one
person would be gratefully received.
Regards
Liz Hunt
