A postdoctoral position is available in the Computational Reaction
Dynamics Group at the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia
(lead by Dr Sean Smith). The area of application will fall into one of
several possibilities, depending on interests and skills of the
successful candidate:
(a) Computational kinetics: Computation of chemical reaction rate
constants for applications in gas phase combustion and atmospheric
chemistry; heterogeneous carbon combustion; reactivity in and on
nanomaterials; reaction/transport computations in liquid phase
erosion/corrosion systems (statistical theories, classical dynamics,
stochastic master equations).
(b) Development of new computational quantum scattering methodologies
with application to environmentally significant (small molecule) gas
phase reactions.
(c) Quantum computing and molecular electronics: adaptation of state of
the art numerical quantum scattering methodologies to multidimensional
electron transport in these contexts.
The position will be initially for 1 year, with the possibility of
extension to two or three years subject to mutual agreement. Brisbane is
a large(ish) city (1.5million) on the east coast with a small city feel
to it. The climate is perfect and the environment superb. The working
facilities within the CRDG are excellent, with many opportunities for
interdisciplinary interactions with collaborative partners in physics,
computational mathematics, engineering or the life sciences at UQ.
Interested applicants please send a CV electronically to Dr Sean Smith
(address below).
