A postdoctoral position is available immediately in the group of Dr David
Klenerman in the Department of Chemistry, Cambridge University for 18
months in the first instance. The project is to continue the development of
a novel method for performing scanning near field optical microscopy of
biological samples, in particular living cells, at high resolution. This
method is based on scanning ion conductance microscopy ( see Biophys.
Journal 78 2675-2679,2000) combined with fluorescence microscopy. We
require some-one with a background in optics, lasers or fluorescence
spectroscopy and a desire to apply physical methods to biological problems.
No prior knowledge of cell biology or scanning probe microscopy is required.
To apply please contact Dr David Klenerman ([log in to unmask]) and send a
cv and the name of two people who can supply a reference.
