Dave Carlisle knows all about these. He has done an excellent video showing how the roofing "slates" were got out at Scarhead, which Earby museum will sell you. I have some photos which I took underground there last year. Contact me off list if you need addresses.

I have just read a small book on the Burtersett Quarries in North Yorkshire, Hawes and Gayle areas by David Hall. These quarries were not open to the surface as is usual, but tunnelled into hills in wide levels. The quarries (mines) are East Shaw, Scarhead, Braygill, Seavy. Old and Raygill. Any information on the above would by appreciated.
