Mine of Information Project -
Swansea University, Library & Information Services, has recently won a major
award from the Research Support Libraries Programme for a unique two year
mining history related project. Swansea will be the lead partner in a
project to improve networked access to Coalfield material for HE
researchers. The aim is to create a unique Web resource on the South Wales
Coalfield, which will cover all formats of material, from archive documents
to visual material. As well as covering the South Wales Coalfield
Collection, the project will also include all of the other major collections
on the South Wales Coalfield in the UK, including local record offices in
South Wales, the PRO, the National Library of Wales and material in Warwick,
North London and Nottingham universities. Further information is available
