I would echo John Gibson's comments on the NAMHO2000 conference in Truro
last weekend - an excellent event.
Next years event, NAMHO2001, will be a field meet based in co.Wicklow,
Ireland, on the weekend of 22-23 September, with associated events over the
following 5 days. The organisers are the Mining Heritage Society of Ireland
(MHSI). For more details contact Dr M. Parkes of MHSI at GSI, Beggars Bush,

Not so far ahead is the 5th International Mining History Congress, due to be
held on the island of Milos, Greece, 12-15 September, 2000. The organisers
there have a very comprehensive programme planned: for details go to
http://www.heliotopos.net/conf/imhc
In Spain this coming October there is to be a conference on the
international aspects of mining heritage - further details will follow.
