Dear Chris,
Calcite forms somewhat 'similar' growths & iron growths come in many forms as
I am sure we have all seen at one time or another. A very interesting
subject, also in conjunction with bacterial growths underground: ICI I think
it was who used to send chemists around regularly to the Weadale mines to
monitor the many types of growths found on timber and generally in the old
workings. A very interesting subject, and one that would be a worthy
candidate for a book by someone well versed in such matters - chemistry &
bacteriology. Regards, Bernard.
