A small and obscure headframe - of which I have no written record - still exists in a
small wood, adjacent to the B6179 road between Alfreton and Swanwick , Derbys.
Almost certainly it was a coal mine, but my Geol Survey Memoir cuts off just above the
area concerned! There is a sheave wheel over the shaft, which is surrounded by a brick
wall. I do not know if it is capped. The site is very close to a private house and I
have not had the opportunity to have a close look. Any information would be
appreciated. The NGR is
