I think there were at least 5 volumes in this series, but I will check.
I have copies of volume 2 and 3 - I have never been able to get the
other volumes!
Volume 2 covers:
Section IV: Shaft Sinking
Section V: Breaking Ground
Section VI: Methods of working & timbering
Volume 3 covers:
Section VII: Haulage
Section VIII: Winding
Section IX: Pumping
Each section is also further broken down into chapters, like a lot of
the coal mining book series of this period ie: Modern Mining Practice,
Modern Practice in Mining, Coal Mining Practice the Practical Coal
Mining books do have a lot of interesting details, but personally I find
this series to be the better produced one.
I will find out the contents of the other volumes (unless someone else
on the list beats me to it!)
