Dear All,
As you might know the Netherlands once had some coalmining areas in the
south. As a result of that some research has been done on coalming, but in
recent years the theme is not so popular anymore among Dutch scientist. The
University of Maastricht currently works on a project together with the
Sociaal Historisch Centrum Limburg to collect names and addresses of
relevant research institutes and museums working on the history of
coalmining in Europe. The result of this will be a guide, which hopefully
facilitates researchers to get in contact with each other. Although I do not
include Great Britain in the first phase of the inventory, this will
certainly be the case in the second phase (for which we still have to find
some funding). I focus now on The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany (Ruhrgebiet,
Aachen), Northern France (+ Saarland), which together form the 'croissant
noir'. Would you be so kind to send me names of individuals or institutes
which you consider interesting for my research, especially contacts you
might have with overseas Europe? I would be very happy and it will help me
getting started
Thanks in advance,
Judith Schueler M.A.
